Sally Everist

Superpower: A knack for making things happen.

First Foray into Work: My inaugural job was as a hop picker, and is not an experience I would wish to revisit. Yet, it profoundly taught the extent to which one could exceed their own expectations and, indeed, survive.

Memorable Rejection: McDonald's deemed I was "overqualified.”

Academic Background: BA in Anthropology and History.

Aged 20, wish I had…: understood that work, whether remunerated or voluntary, offers immense satisfaction. It's not merely a means to bolster finances, but a vital contributor to overall well-being.

Thanks to a husband with an insatiable wanderlust, my career has spanned diverse geographies, working in the UK, Tanzania, and Australia, and periods of residence in France and Spain, encompassing roles as a volunteer, a paid employee, and an employer. My first business was founded shortly after leaving school.

More recently, my focus has primarily been on consultancy within the educational and charitable sectors. As the former Director of The Good Schools Guide: Careers, a significant portion of the work I did for the Guide was to establish a new accreditation programme for businesses offering apprenticeships. Authored The Good Schools Guide's, The Good Degree Apprenticeship Handbook, and co-editor of The Apprenticeship Anthology with Queen Mary University, London, for the 2018, 2019, and 2020 editions.

As a coach, I work predominantly with young individuals standing at the precipice of their next life stage, often grappling with uncertainties about their future direction.

I currently sit on the board of Stratford School Academy in London. In this role, I hope to contribute as much as I gain.

I hold the firm belief that every problem has a solution; it's simply that the path may not yet have been discovered - yet.
