Case Study, #4. Malaysian Training Provider

Client & Background

A Malaysian provider of training and development programmes, specialising in technical skills, industrial assessment, and TVET development, primarily in the engineering and software sectors. Founded in 2017, the client delivers  face-to-face training delivery but seeks to strategically expand its market reach and include online delivery within its portfolio.

Nature of Collaboration

Strategic Collaboration for the joint cooperation and establishment of Human Skills Online Offerings in Malaysia.

Client Commission:

In 2025, at Bett KL Vitruvia was approached by our client for an initial discovery conversation. They were proactive: direct, clear and objective; having already researched Vitruvia’s capability and offer, they were keen to create a partnership.  Like Vitruvia they are also relatively young as a business having been founded in 2017, then re-shaping the company after Covid. Partnering with a young  agile company such as Vitruvia which was also seeking entry into the Malaysian market  allows both parties the opportunity to test their premise within a few months and create a flexible online learning offer.

The primary objective for the partnership was strategic as the client had identified a crucial opportunity to capture a wider market by offering scalable online courses focusing on human skills.

The joint mission

To equip career starters and adults with the capabilities, confidence, and capacity required to contribute meaningfully to their employer’s growth strategy and fulfil their personal and professional potential.

 Target audiences are:

  • Fresh graduates struggling to transition into the job market.

  • Middle managers needing and wanting to upskill from operational to strategic thinking.

Timeline

Following an initial consultative meeting, Vitruvia presented a 'pick-and-mix' overview of its programmes and micro-modules. This flexible approach enabled the client to custom-build their learning programme to meet their audience needs.

An agreement, in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was signed within three months of the initial client meeting, establishing a mutually agreed-upon delivery timeline. The full contract was signed within the following three months, with delivery scheduled to begin at the start of the second quarter of this year.

The client took responsibility for marketing the programmes, targeting their current clients: employers and organisations already utilising the training providers' services, alumni, and a broader audience. As this is a partnership, the programmes will be co-branded, and all marketing materials and external messaging require approval from both parties. To bolster marketing efforts and drive sales, Vitruvia proposed delivering two lunchtime webinars focused on the training program topics.

The client wished for both programmes to be accredited by the Malaysian HRD Corporation. Being accredited allows learners to draw down on a government fund that all tax payers contribute to through the country's taxation system. Individuals are then able to use their funding allowance to pay for any upskilling or training.
